The second of my London Cocktail Week round ups focuses on the second half of the week – starting off after work in Bermondsey…
Bermondsey cocktail crawl:
First stop TwoRuba in the Hilton for a Berrylicious cocktail
Then to The Hide bar – for a Brokers cocktail, complete with hat!
The chocolate and orange Ramos – the perfect chocolate orange alcoholic mix!
Then we headed over to the main London Cocktail Week village:
Spitalfields hub:
It’s so busy at Spitalfields and there is so much to do!
We started off with a salted caramel expresso martini at the Tia Maria milk float – with a silent disco to boot!
All the stands have a special cocktail for £5 for everyone with a London Cocktail Week wristband – however there are plenty of free samples too!
An overview of the cocktail village from the balcony
Looks pretty festive with all the lights! (Ps this is at the end of night – it was usually a lot busier!)
Up on the balcony was the Angostura bar:
Did you know that Angostura of bitters fame make rum too? Well know that I know it was time to check out the rum cocktails, the dark and stormy was great!
A brief break was in order to check out some food at Wright Brothers:
Wright Bros in Spitalfields had a deal £10 for a red snapper cocktail (a Bloody Mary with gin – Gin Mare naturally) and 3 oysters, so it seemed rude not to try it!
Then back to the hub to check out the FeverTree Deco Bar:
Then next up Vestal Vodka of gin making fame – showing off their little pot still
But they were slightly overshadowed by Bathtub gin next door:
Yes that’s a bathtub full of their signature rubber ducks, and plenty of people were getting pictures in it!
Last but not least, Sipsmiths had a stall with some of their more interesting concoctions – we saw some of their trials at the distillery visit in the summer
I went with the hot mulled gin – served in their signature cups
Oh and there were some gin flavoured ‘cocktail pastilles’ from Smith and Sinclair – Gin and Tonic flavour and Spring Clean flavour (with elderflower and gin)
Then because there were a lot of drinks that week, I decided to invest in some Ohayō Tomorrow
This is a hangover cure – you drink it before you go to bed and hopefully wake up feeling refreshed! It’s a little like having a berrocca before bed, with plenty of B vitamins and the added extra of milk thistle to help you liver.
I don’t think it works after a full day drinking, but with lots of water before bed I think it gives you the edge, vital for London Cocktail Week with 270 bars to visit in one week!
