Hello and welcome to What’s Katie Doing?!
So who is behind What’s Katie Doing?
Hello I’m Katie and this blog is all about me and my passions.
By day I’m an accountant working in the Treasury department of Dentsu Aegis, which pays the bills and feeds my love of a good spreadsheet! (I’m also obligated to state that all opinions are mine and nothing to do with Dentsu)
However by night I’m out and about living my fullest life in London and travelling around the world.
What are these passions you speak of?
The three themes of this blog are GIN, TRAVEL and FOOD.
I love to drink gin and gin based cocktails (although I have been known to cheat on gin before). I also love wine, so you can find me visiting wineries as well as distilleries, even better if they make both wine and gin!
But this isn’t a blog that just reviews gin. I tend to write about my experiences with gin festivals, distillery visits and events, as well the odd gin review. I also judge the gin categories for the World Drinks Awards and Craft Distilling Expo.
Make sure you are following my Instagram for #ginspiration and cocktail recipes, that won’t necessarily make it to the blog.
My passion for travel started at an early age. I think my first foreign holiday was Malta and the second Greece (as a baby!). My family always travelled a lot – both in the UK and Europe and also around the world, due in part to my Dad’s job.
However my passion for travelling really kicked off when I decided to quit my job in banking and go travelling for a year. This was also when I started blogging – originally just as a travel blog. 13 months and 21 countries later, I still have the travel bug, but make do with fitting holidays around the day job.
I aim to visit at least one new country a year and my travels focus on finding gin, seeing the local culture and eating the local food!
I think my Gin Guides are pretty unique travel and gin content – let me know what you think of them.
Whilst I *can* cook, when you live in London there are so many restaurants that it’s almost impossible to not go out. So my blog doesn’t really cover recipes (unless they are gin based!). Instead I review restaurants, food based tours and events.
I always try to sample the local cuisine when I travel and I love to do cooking classes.
