So those of you who read my blog post about the dry hen do at Nobu Dubai will know that I was in Dubai for my friend Jonny’s wedding to Miki (hence #Miny as the amalgamation of their names).
This took place on the beach of the Ritz Carlton on Jumeriah Beach Residences, by the Marina. Due to Eid there was no music or drinking allowed until 7pm, but when we arrived at 5.30 it was still so hot that all anyone wanted was cold water!
As the staff passed out cold towels and cans of Evian cooling mist, the groomsmen took us through a warm up of the wedding march we had to hum… more on that later, and we practised our backup for Jonny’s karaoke serenade to Miki!

Our song sheet
The groom looking spiffing in his cream suit – we all had to wear white and it was a good thing in the heat!
The JET girls (and me!) – they all met Jonny when they were teaching English in Japan
The flower girl – Jonny’s niece
The bride with her siblings – yes her brothers are wearing Darth Vader masks! – the wedding march was the Imperial theme from Star Wars, which we were doing the der der der, der der’s for!
Bride and groom sharing a moment
Ready for pictures!

Cutting the cake before it melted in the 33 degree heat!
First dance beneath the Dubai sky scrapers!
Wedding after party at Azure Bleu at the Meydan Beach Club next door – we were loving the souvenir T Shirts as favours!!
Emergency wedding moustaches…
Eid fireworks topping off the wedding celebrations
So pretty!
It was great to celebrate with Miki and Jonny on their special day – 2 years and 2 weeks after they first met!
