Elizabeth Tower – renamed for Queen Elizabeth on her Diamond Jubilee, Big Ben is just the name of the bell that strikes the hour.
View along Westminster Embankment with the Houses of Parliament and Elizabeth Tower in the background.
The window the members of Parliament gave as a present to the Queen for her Diamond Jubilee. The Great Hall is the only part that a non commoner can access (ie the Queen!) so she does speeches in this hall, like at her Diamond Jubilee excepting her present.
The stained glass windows are the original – they were packed up and sent to a Welsh coalmine for the Second World War (along with plenty of art) to keep them safe from bombs.
