London Cocktail Week Roundup: Part 1

With London Cocktail Week 2015 all over, an update seems to be in order!

Sunday night was the FEW in the loo warmup party at Ladies & Gents in Kentish Town

Master distiller Paul Hletko brought some of the range along – Whisky, American Gin & Barrel Gin

The guys at Ladies and Gents came up with a select FEW cocktails (see what I did there!)

And then there was this… Malört, because… they are from Chicago, and Malört is a thing there, just because, everyone needs to try this made from children’s tears and the semen of homeless men expertly milked by interns (Paul’s words not mine!).

It’s… Interesting to say the least, but not as bitter as I was expecting from the description above lol! (It was actually more fragrant than even Jaegar)

Suggested serve for me – Barrel Aged Gin Negroni ??

And then we tried some very nice vodka – from Willy Borrell’s Polish family farm, made from a single type of potato and using just the 2011 harvest – sooo smooth, if you’ve never tried quality vodka, you should – a world of difference!

Oh and then Jim Powers from Parce Rum turned up – so we had a wee taste of that too, lovely!

Then I ran home as I had to go to the day job… ?
Monday night I collected mt wristband from the World Class hub in Poland Street

Ta da – this year’s wristband to show I’m in the club!

So whilst I was there I had to check out the World Class bar!

This was the special £5 cocktail on Monday – a corpse reviver – which I kinda needed after that Malört!

Out of the box of smoke comes the corpse and then into the glass!

Next up the tasting bar…

Want that one! They had whiskey, gin and rum all lined up

So obviously I tried the gin – Tanqueray 10, matched with Basil & Lime chocolate – bliss!

And then just because I could I tried the Zacapa rum – I really enjoyed the multi sensory experience last year at the Seven Dial hub.

Multi shaker experience at the Tanqueray Deco bar – turn the handle and shake four drinks at once! By then I had to back away – got to pace yourself when it’s cocktails all week!

Tuesday night was the Half Hitch gin tour in Camden – one of my local gins and an opportunity to learn more about Camden’s gin history.

I’m going to be writing a separate gin dedicated post for this – so watch this space!
