I am of course referring to another page of the Oliver Conquest’s Gin List!
Page completed
A reduced Gin Club with a Reading Problem (me and Kimmy) managed to complete another page of the Gin List last Friday. We also managed to taste some gin’s just in that morning & not even on the separate Gin list update.
July update 1
I think we did well, 2 down 11 pages to go & this is likely to grow as they are still sourcing more gin!
Nordes – very pretty
My first gin of the evening was the Nordes from the update list – served with Rose lemonade and rose petals it was almost a cocktail and perfectly refreshing.
Next up was the gin of the month – Sibling – made by siblings unsurprisingly. This was such a different flavour profile from the usual gin one, it’s definitely one I’ll remember, although I couldn’t find a direct comparison. We thought the vanilla mentioned in the tasting notes came out more as a chocolate flavour in the aftertaste. 2 stars from Gin Club!
We were also privileged to try a sample of Beckett gin – just in that morning! It was a very smooth gin (especially when tried straight, although Kimmy wasn’t keen on this method!) and perfect for a G&T. The USP for this gin is that the most important ingredient – juniper is British – grown in Box Hill no less!
After we were both a few gins down we headed to the Barley Mow on Curtain Road to meet some more friends and continue with a couple more (inferior!) G&Ts. I then switched to beer – tempted by the Honey Dew on draft, a great summer beer, sweet with plenty of flavour, but too hoppy or bitter.
