When a good friend I met travelling in South East Asia visited London on work, we met up in her downtime for a very quick wizz around some key London sights: Buckingham Palace, Picadilly Circus, Regents Street, Top Shop and Primani (Primark!).
I met her at Green Park station and we cut through the park to visit the front gates of Buckingham Palace. although it looked like the Queen was in she didn’t wave back to us…
Given that the Queen wouldn’t see us we headed back through Green Park, past the Canadian war memorial and up to Picadilly Circus to say hi to the statue of Eros and induct Cameo into the London equivalent of Times Square – albeit a tad smaller in scale 🙂
Then we worked our way past all the red double deckers up Regent’s Street – stopping off at Oxford Circus for that well known landmark – Top Shop. A half hour later Cameo had succeeded in finding some platform shoes – mission completed!
No these weren’t the shoes she bought! We thought it was weird to see South American shoes in Top Shop though….
Next stop was Primark for some cheap tops – Cameo had heard lots about Primarni…
Then we walked to Charlotte Street for it’s many restaurant options. We finally settled on Tsunami – a Japanese sushi restaurant with a few twists. I think they call it fusion 😉
We enjoyed ourselves with edamame, seaweed salad, grilled aubergines with miso, salmon, tuna and eel nigri and an amazing truffled rib eye steak, nom nom!
I took Cameo to Kings Cross to get her back on the Picadilly line to Heathrow – and this allowed another stop off on the way 😉
No we didn’t make it to Hogwarts 🙁
For Cameo’s next layover there are a few more places to visit… ’til next time!
