This weekend my favourite stalker Lucy tracked me down to London.
The first thing we did when she was off the train was to head to the St Pancras Champagne Bar – apparently longest champagne bar ever! (But not the longest continuous bar – it’s made up of booths and mini bars). This is the first time for both of us here – it’s indecent to think of all the times I’ve been through this station and not made it to the bar!
We really enjoyed their house champagne – we had ordered the two cheapest to try and the house was great, lovely and fruity, whilst the Canard-Duchéne was drier and more intensely bubbly.
A very wide ranging champagne menu, this was just page one!
Then we headed back to Camden to drink more bubbly and have a catch up chat before dinner.
Lauren joined us for a dinner of Tikka Salmon and chickpea curry and then we were off to Lucky Voice Islington on Upper Street for our karaoke madness!
So if you haven’t been to a Lucky Voice before the concept is Asia karaoke. We are NOT talking singing in front of a room full of strangers on a mini stage, like you get in some pubs. This is plush individual rooms with seating, glitter balls, music systems where you can change the backing and vocals separately, yourself. Oh and a huge selection of songs!
We hit up everything from Gangster’s Paradise to Disney, via a bit of Tina Turner (this is a prerequisite for a Hughes brought up by my mum!)
Then when they had to prise the microphones out of our hands, we headed to the bar to continue the party! Dancing and drinking and then a quick ice cream break before crashing out at home.
Oh what a night!
Lucky Voice is my favourite karaoke venue – they have several in London and across the UK in general – notably in Soho under Yo Sushi and in Brighton. I’ve tried other karaoke venues and K Box in Smithfield comes close – but in general the Leciester Square version was not so nice.
So obviously Sunday morning was a write off as we tried to shrug off the hangover! It was great to catch up with Lucy – can’t believe she stalked me all the way from South America 😉 we did miss our 3rd musketeer Cat though 🙁
