I finally got to Pudding Bar when it was open! The Pudding Bar has popped up for a month in Greek St Soho and does what it says – it serves Pudding, oh and wine!
Now the paint has dried, I got to try their desserts. To make the most of the experience – I might not get back again – I tried the tasting plate (sharing of course!) with the matching flight of dessert wines.
The desserts included S’more Cheesecake, Eton Mess, Panna Cotta, Baked Alaska and Profiteroles with chocolate cream and caramel sauce.
The wines are Maury (the red), a Sauternes and the Late Harvest Tokaji that I tasted when I gate crashed the painting party last month!
We were advised to drink the Maury with the chocolate desserts, the Sauternes with the Eton Mess and then the Tokaji with the Panna Cotta & Baked Alaska.
All the desserts were amazing, however I think my favourite was the S’more Cheesecake – I could eat that all over again, everyday! The wine pairings were great too, but I always like dessert wine! The only thing surprising me is that there is no port on the menu – but that can been seen more as a winter thing…
Whilst eavesdropping on the staff I got to try their versions plating up the Panna Cotta. One with caramelised oranges and the other with the blackberry jelly and fresh strawberries (inspired by the Royal Family – think I accidentally ate Prince George :s ) and Stilton ice cream. On this basis I would recommend the cheese board – the ice cream was made with left over cheese!
So the food is amazing, the wine great and the staff fabulous (& generous!) – why wouldn’t you want to go here!
