Yesterday I managed to catch up with some friends Cat and I made whilst drinking a lot of Malbec in Mendoza, Argentina.
Adam and Arancha only have a short time when the both of them are still in London, so it was doubly special (although I reserve the right to visit first in Japan and then in Aus in the future!)
In Argentina we met them when it was 40+ degrees C and our hostel suggested using the plunge pool at the sister hostel – only a 10 block walk away…. We decided to go chill out there and that’s where we met Adam, AJ and Brett. Free wine happy hour, followed by wine tasting at their hostel, then more wine tasting at ours, followed by another evening eating steak and drinking more Malbec resulted in some pool shenanigans and some fab nights!

The gang (partially) reunited – just missing Cat and Brett :(. We were also joined by my flatmate Laura and her friend Rob.
So it seemed fitting to have our London catch up based in an Argentine restaurant. La Patagonia is a rustic Argentine restaurant on Camden High Street.
They specialise in steak, empanadas and mixed grills, and of course they have a wide selection of Malbec! I’ve always found their house wine brilliant value at £15 a bottle and it goes perfectly with the steak.
We quickly demolished empanadas, steaks and sides and polished off a rather restrained 3 bottles of Malbec between the 5 of us (sounds like a lot written down, but we were on a much higher level drinking in Mendoza :s)
Having caught up on the plans and shared ‘since we last saw you’ stories I hope to catch up with them on their next adventure in Tokyo! And as Adam pointed out – it’s kinda equidistant from the UK and New Zealand 🙂

That looks delicious! How was the steak? Love a good bottle of malbec with my steak too!
