What started out as a winter walk up to the top of Parliament Hill ended up as a pub crawl/mulled wine sampling session through Kentish Town.
Whilst we did make it up Parliament Hill, all our photos were a bit shit (think blurry selfies….) so to give you an idea of the view from the top, here’s one I borrowed from Urban75:
After we’d seen the view we headed down back to High Gate road, where the first thing we saw was the Bull & Last pub. Known for it’s gastro pub food it’s constantly busy at the weekends, so we managed to grab a mulled wine each and nab a bench outside. We were too late for their famed scotch eggs 🙁
Next up as we sauntered down the road was the Vine, here we switched to red wine and tried out some of their bar snacks, including the squid and prawns.
For dinner proper we headed over the road to Chicken Shop, which guess what, serves chicken! Beautiful rotisserie chicken, with side of fries, corn on the cob and dessert of apple pie a la mode.
Lush succulent chicken – nom!
After flirting copiously with the waiters, the chefs and anyone else in the vincinity, we moved down the road towards the tube station and the Assembly House.
Here we tried our next mulled wine, but also admired the Meantime beer casks for fresh pints of beer:

Apart from being deservedly mocked for being on our smart phones (how do you think I got these pictures?!) we enjoyed the pub – it has great space for eating in and some lovely Victorian features. They have jazz and roasts on a Sunday too 🙂
Then I had to take the flatmate home, as all the mulled wine tasting had only topped up her hangover, rather than curing it….
