It been really fun not working at the moment – it’s allowed me to be a tourist in my own city and this Sunday evening I was again touristing with someone I met whilst travelling!
I met Cecilia and her friends in a hostel in Punta del Diablo Uruguay. They were all from Brasil – they drove from their state that borders Uruguay as part of a summer road trip (December January is their summer holidays in the Southern Hemisphere!).
So when Cecilia told me she was in London for a month studying we had to meet up! We met at her student accomodation near Aldgate East and my favourite gin bar The Oliver Conquest (it’s literally spitting distance, but unfortunately is closed on Sundays) and headed to the river.
Look what we found:
Sitting on the lawn on the otherside to watch the Wilmbledon final
The tennis in the background.
After we watched Djokovic win we continued to walk along the river on a mini sightseeing tour.
We made it to the Tate Modern, which was closed at 8pm on Sunday and took the Millenium Bridge over to St Paul’s Cathedral
A moody sky over London – from right to left you can see the Shard, Tower Bridge and the towers of Canary Wharf lit up in the last of the sunlight.
At Bank in the City of London with the Royal Exchange behind
There were sun showers – the Tower of London catches the rays and you can see from my shadow that I’m holding an umbrella – typical English weather!
We stopped at St Katherine’s Dock for a traditional English roast with Yorkshire Puddings and some English beer, some more things that Cecilia can tick off the list!
